Ribbon-Cutting Marks Official Opening of the New AFCO Cargo RSW Building
Fort Myers, Fla., September 25, 2024—Aviation Facilities Company (AFCO) this week hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new AFCO Cargo Building at Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) in Fort Myers, Florida. The ceremony, held on Tuesday, September 24 and attended by airport leadership and partners as well as design-build team members, marked the official opening of the new 28,000-SF modern cargo facility at one of the fastest-growing airports in the U.S.
Located on the south side of the airfield near the new passenger terminal, the new facility moves tenants closer to the passenger terminal and out of an old, out-of-date building to one with more space. The building includes seven units, each about 4,000 SF, and features ample employee, visitor, and truck parking; direct airfield access; and a tenant-only shared loading/pass-through dock. Current tenants include Delta, AGI, Hall Technical Services, Swissport, and the Lee County Port Authority.
Chuck Stipancic, AFCO’s President and CEO, marked the occasion with brief remarks. “We are pleased to announce the completion of our new, modern air cargo facility at Southwest Florida International Airport,” he said, noting “it was our collaborative partnership with the Airport Authority that allowed us to successfully deliver this critical piece of airport infrastructure, which will provide additional air freight capacity to accommodate current and future growth in the RSW market.”
